Your textbook for this course is Art in Focus by Gene Mittler. Page through it now to get a preview of the beautiful artwork you’ll be studying.
This course guide will walk you through the course. It will tell you what to read in your textbook and when, it will explain important concepts, and it will tell you what to submit to your instructor for grading.
I have divided this course into ten lessons, two of which are exams. In each of the other eight lessons, you’ll find the following parts:
- lesson objectives
- a reading assignment
- a discussion section
- a vocabulary section called Word Watch
- an assignment to be submitted for grading
In the discussion section, I’ll expand on various ideas, explain vocabulary words, and ask you questions. For most of those questions, I’ll expect you to write down answers and turn them in when you have finished that lesson. That will be your assignment. As assignment questions come up in the discussion section, I’ll set them off from the rest of the paragraph and number them. The points to be earned will follow each question like this: (3 pts.). The Assignment list in Oncourse will summarize what you are to turn in for each lesson.
For each lesson, please put your answers in one Word document.
